Keri Sable

The short career of Keri Sable: a 2004 debut, more than a hundred scenes in ten months, a Wicked contract in April 2005 and a quiet retirement that December.

Keri Sable was born on 28 April 1986 in Buffalo, New York, into an Italian-American family. She spent part of her teens in Phoenix and Chicago before settling in San Diego, where she finished high school and worked retail jobs. She has said she was a strong student, and that college did not appeal to her the way a move to Los Angeles did.

She entered adult film in July 2004, a few months after turning eighteen. The first year was almost entirely gonzo: short, scene-driven productions for companies such as Jules Jordan Video, Diabolic and Sin City. She worked at a pace that was unusual even by the standards of the period, and by early 2005 she had appeared in well over a hundred scenes. Directors cast her for the same reasons audiences noticed her: a direct camera presence, an unusually wide smile, and no visible hesitation in hard scenes.

In April 2005 she signed an exclusive two-year contract with Wicked Pictures, then the most established feature studio in the industry. The change was immediate. Where the gonzo work had been built around a single scene, Wicked built films around characters, and she was cast as Tanya in The Visitors, Alicia in Eternity and Julia in Sold. The release schedule slowed to a handful of titles a year.

The contract did not run its course. In December 2005, roughly nine months after signing, she retired and returned to the east coast to study. She has not performed since. The films released under her name after 2006 are compilations of earlier material, a detail worth keeping in mind when a database lists more than a hundred and forty titles.

On camera she worked without visible brakes. The gonzo titles sold her on stamina: anal in the first year, group scenes with five or six performers, facials, swallowing, POV footage shot close enough that the camera becomes the partner. Wicked softened the framing but not the content; Eternity and Sold still put her in anal and group scenes, and the AVN nominations came for those scenes, not for the acting.
